Can sign in to apple id and itunes, but not icloud

Why does my apple id and password fail when I try to log into icloud? The login clears and jiggles, and that's it, no errors or anything. My password seems good. Internet is strong. It's a problem because things need updating.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.12

If you can't connect or sign in to iCloud - Apple Support


If you still have problems:


Click here --> https://support.apple.com/choose-country-region Select your country, then a product. If you don't see one that handles your issue then keep experimenting with selections until you reach one that gets you a chat session or a telephone call and get the representative to redirect you.
