I have written a book with 250 pages and want to copy and take it to have several copies printed at Officeworks. Should I save it as a pdf, or just copy and burn it onto a disk in its current Pages form?
pdf might be best. But, you could ask at the company, they may be able to handle native pages documents.

Before you wrote one line of that Pages document, you should have talked to the printer about their input document requirements. Pages might have been the wrong tool for several reasons as they may want a PDF/X-3 document with all images at 300 dpi and in the CMYK color space. Pages cannot do that.
Well, that would have been helpful if I’d known it ten years or more ago when I started writing it.
But I will bear it in mind for next time.
