Trouble with Pages

I am trying to write a booklet. In doing so while I am in "pages", I have to alternate from writing on the left side of a page to the far right on the following next page. I have to continue alternating in this manner until the end of my booklet manuscript. While in "pages" under the "style" menu, I have chosen the "left icon" found under "text." In trying to edit my manuscript, I have no problem moving text found on the far left on my page to the far right. However, I can not move and text found on the far right on a page to go to the far left.

No matter what I do within the above box, I can not get my text to go to the far left when I highlight the text. Even when I used the "yellow choice" above with the other option below it indicating to the left, the text will just jumble up on the far right of my page. I tried deleting key and that does not do the job.

I am 72. yrs. old and this project is a very important project for me. I would appreciate your help. I have never had an education on any word processing tool like "pages."
