Hello Rbud3.
Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand you have some issues with your camera and SD cards not being recognized on your MacBook Pro. Let's walk through a few steps to figure out what's going on.
First, which port are you plugging these accessories in to?
Are you using the USB port?
Does your MacBook Pro model have an SD card slot you are using?
If you connect another type of USB device, is it recognized by your computer?
If you test your camera or the SD card on another computer, are they recognized?
Next, work through this guide if you are using the USB port:
If a USB device doesn’t work with Mac
We'd recommend making sure both ports show working properly within your MacBook Pro hardware report. Here's how to check:
On your Mac, choose Apple () menu > About This Mac. In the overview that appears, click the System Report button.
In the window that appears, see if the USB device is listed below Hardware in the list on the left. If the device appears but does not work, review the device’s documentation for further troubleshooting steps.
We look forward to hearing back from you.
Take care.
