Mac book repair on hold

Authorized dealer sent my Mac Book Pro in 8 days ago for a “simple” battery replacement. 4 days ago they put the repair on hold. I have tried everything, chat, phone and support to find out why. Anyone else have this experience. No one can give me any idea what’s happening or when I will get it back.

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 10.14

Contact the AASP as they can communicate directly with Apple to find out the reason for the hold. Usually a hold indicates Apple is re-quoting the repair because they found another problem (or signs of liquid damage). If an AASP mails a laptop to an Apple mail-in repair depot, then the AASP should be notified of the re-quote and pass that information on to you. You gave the laptop to an AASP, then you only need to deal with the AASP unless Apple has contacted you directly about the issue.

If you click the "Get Support" link at the top right of this page you can eventually chat (or maybe even call) Apple Tech Support or use the information in this link here:

Contact Apple for support and service - Apple Support

Or you can contact Apple corporate:

https://www.apple.com/contact/

Try contacting another local AASP or even an Apple Store to see if they can check on the mail-in repair for you.

If this computer is that important, then perhaps you should invest in a spare backup computer (even if you use a slightly older model).
