MacPro 3.1 does not start up

This MacPro 3.1 worked perfectly until two days ago. I shut it down as usual at the end of the day. The next morning the computer did not start up. Again today, when I press the power button nothing happens, no light on the power button. I know that the power supply is good and so is the battery. Pressing the Led dialogue button only lights on the yellow "Standby" led. Any suggestion what is wrong?

Thanks

The "approved method" for debugging these difficult situations is to strip your Mac Pro down to almost nothing. Remove everything that is in a slot, including all PCIe cards, ALL drives, all RAM, looking for the machine to stay on long enough power the fans and blink a "Help me" message in the power-on light.

If you get to that, install the RAM and you should get a chime.

If successful there, try the graphics card and see what is on screen.

then keep adding one thing at a time and see where it gets stuck.

Thanks for this elaborate reply. I'll need a few days to digest it. But I just want to tell you that I already had that technical manual you suggested me to download. That's where I learned about the led dialogue. I probably don't have the necessary competence to find out what is wrong with my 3.1 and I am very sorry because I liked it a lot.

Thanks for trying to help me.

I thought the power supply was bad too. I used the power supply from two different working 3.1 and I still cannot get any response from the power-on button. Then I used the power supply from this MacPro 3.1 and installed it in my other working 3.1 and it booted fine. According to the manual, LED 1 indicates Sleep mode and is noramlly off when computer is not on. It should come on when computer is working. LED 2 is the power supply trickle power and it does light up when I press the LED dialogue button. LED 7 indicates present GPU. Pressing the led switch and the power on button at the same time only lights up LED 2 which tells that the power supply is providing current.

Trouble, trouble! I started removing the logic board from Mac Pro 3.1 #1; in the meantime, I powered on Mac Pro 3.1 #2 and the video came on and took me to the user window for a second, but then the video quit and I was left with a black screen. I shut it down using the power-on button and turned it back on. No video, no booting only a quick blinking power-on button. When I press the Led dialogue switch I can see the #2 Stby led on and the green PWRG led on. Is this another case of dead logic board?
