Residual Screen Image / iPhone 8

My iPhone 8 has developed a peculiar issue. Whenever the image on the screen changes (e.g. change apps, close and app, etc.), there is a residual image of the previous screen in the background.

  1. Sometimes it is a faint image and sometime it's very predominant. I tried powering down and up again multiple time w/o success.
  2. When I wake the screen, it looks ok but if I open an app, the problem resurfaces
  3. I created a screenshot of the issue but the ghost image does not appear in the photo. It was on the screen when the photo was taken.

I would appreciate help with this. Thank you

Hey Joe, sorry you are experiencing this issue.

The first thing to try would be hard restarting your iPhone because it can fix some simple problems to do this please follow the instructions in this article: https://support.apple.com/guide/iphone/force-restart-iphone-iph8903c3ee6/ios

However, it is most likely a hardware problem, if you have insurance for your phone from apple, TMobile, ATT, etc they make cover the damage and you can contact the provider to fix it. Otherwise, apple has a screen repair service which you can see at this link: https://support.apple.com/iphone/repair/service

Hope this helped and have a great day!
