Wifi - No hardware installed

Hello. My wifi suddenly doesn’t work anymore - all I get is the wifi sign with a cross in it and the message “no hardware installed”.

I tried resetting the smc, but that didn’t work.

I have the Macbook Air from early 2014 with El Capitan (I tried updating, but it doesn’t work).

Has someone got another tipp for me?

Thanks in advance!

Sometimes to restart in Safe mode can help resolve or troubleshoot issues.

Detailed instructions are just that. There are ways to tell if it's in Safe mode.

And to leave Safe mode, once done; and to re-test Mac, restart it normally.

There also is an Apple Diagnostics test; I've seldom used one on my macs.
