erasing an old iPhone
I no longer have an Apple ID for the Comcast address that was used on an old phone. How do I erase the information on the phone if I can't enter a password for the account?

Hello 43-21,
Thanks for reaching out through the Apple Support Communities about erasing your iPhone that is signed into your prior Apple ID.
While you can put your iPhone into recovery mode per the steps in this article, and erase it that way, that process would not disable the Find My feature: If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If the Find My feature is enabled, you would need to sign into your Apple ID once the restore completes in order to remove the Activation Lock and finish setting up your iPhone: Activation Lock for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
So it is recommended to see if you can first regain access to your Apple ID before restoring your iPhone: If you forgot your Apple ID password
Additionally, this article covers the steps to request removal of the Activation Lock, if needed: How to remove Activation Lock
Hopefully those resources put you on the path to getting this addressed.
Take care.
