Syncing itunes library to new phone without deleting music on computer

I have looked through all related threads and have not so far found a respond I totally understand. I have a replacement iphone and want to sync it to my itunes on my laptop so I can have the songs on my phone. When I try to, I get the message: Syncing “iPhone” with this iTunes library will replace media from another iTunes library on “***'s MacBook Air”.

Does this mean once I sync to the phone all music will be deleted from my laptop? I have tried to select the option to manually transfer music and get the same message.

Thank you

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 10.12

Hello awsnap2021 and welcome to Apple Support Communities. It appears you are having some difficulty syncing music from a Mac to a new iPhone.

Use the Finder to sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod with your computer

The most common reason for that message is that there may be more than one iTunes library on the Mac. And an iOS device can only be associated with one library at a time.

The easiest way around this is just to use the Sync Library feature of either iTunes Match or the Apple Music service.

Turn on Sync Library with Apple Music

Cheers.
