Hello, just curious. I have an old Corporate phone that I’d like to give to my kid but was only going to set it up on our home wifi and remove the SIM card altogether.
If I do that, is it safe in that it’s not still connected or monitored by my company?

Check with your IT department. However, if you reset the phone to factory settings (as you should do before repurposing it) if it is still under MDM you will see a notice on the screen saying so.

It won't let you do some of those things if it is managed.
If the phone is still managed by the company they can do that over your wi-fi connection too.
