my imac will not boot up...dark screen how do i erase info so i can sell or trade in ?????

my Imac will not boot up...dark screen...how can i erase info to prepare for sale?

If the display or back lighting has failed. Then you can use Target Disk Mode to erase your data, you will need another Mac to do this. If you do not have another Mac then the ONLY other method to erase your data is to physically remove the internal drive and destroy it.
