ITunes 9 problems w/ Vista install - Windows Installer loads each time, etc

Ever since I upgraded to ITunes 9, I am having a BUNCH of problems.

1. Windows Installer loads EVERY time. Once it runs through its process (about 5 minutes), ITunes works fine as far as playing back music.

2. I can't purchase anything. It says "Could not purchase XXXX - A duplicate file name was specified."

3. I can't authorize my computer or sync my Ipod with purchased content. Again, an error about a duplicate file pops up.

4. I can't burn CD's at all. The CD just spins and when it burns the song the song is all choppy and distorted.

I have tried HOURS of things - please, please help me. Obviously I've installed/uninstalled/reinstalled a million times.

I'm having the same issue. When iTunes installed it didn't put an icon on my quick launch menu, the installer loads every time I try to open iTunes, any time I try to make a purchase (or even download a free track) I get the "could not purchase "XXXXXX". A duplicate file name was specified" message. Plus, somewhere between the update of iTunes and the one of Norton, my computer has lost my optical drive.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled both the GEAR drivers AND all of the Apple software SEVERAL times and nothing has fixed the issue.

I know you're distracted with denying the issue on the new iPhone, Apple, but any support here would be greatly appreciated...

Same here.
Latest update gives me headache on Vista.
Every time the installer pops up after launching iTunes, sometimes it looks like I have to configure iTunes all over again.
It doesn't remember my Apple ID and worse: it doesn't see my ATV anymore...
When I try to connect through ATV, I have to input the codes again and it shows up empty!!! I have to synchronise 100 gigs of data again, come on you Apple guys, this is not funny!

this has been reported when launching itunes from a bad shortcut.
Have you tried deleting the itunes shortcut and rebuilding it?

First, close itunes.
Delete the current desktop shortcut icon for itunes.
Next, open Windows Explorer.
Browse to c:\program files\itunes
Right-click on itunes.exe and choose "Send to desktop (create shortcut)

Go back to your desktop and start itunes using the new shortcut. Does it still want to configure everything again?

My i-tunes was working fine until I tried to up-grade to 9. 9 is not installing because the error message states that it can not find a file named "itunes.msi".

I have lost most of the functionality of the i-tunes site along with not being able to change the music I can sync with my I-Pod 3rd Gen 8G.

Tried setting up new account on my laptop with Windows 7 but could not play the music I had purchased, then I-tunes nearly crashed my computer.

Help!!!

I'm having MAJOR problems with the itunes. Everytime I try to get into iTunes I get the folowing message(s):-
Please wait while Windows configures iTunes then...
Problem with shortcut - * Fatal error during installation then....
Destination Folder Access Denied (when I try to delete the Temp folders-as advised)then get "You need permission to perform this action" and Temp followed by date and time created.

To say that I am fed up would be an understatement!!! Everything was okay until I updated on September 28th 2010 since then no joy
ANY help would be soooooo much appreciated
Thanks
