Activation Lock problem

I accidentally reset an old iPad 9 to factory setting and now cannot unlock it as I have forgotten the old iCloud password used for the Apple ID. Is there a way to find out this old iCloud password from Apple? When I connect it to iTunes 12.2 to restore from back ups, the Activation Lock page comes up and I am stuck again. Also finding min iTunes the Devices backup is greyed out.

Any help would be very appreciated!

Check your web browser's autofill entries, or use Apple's iForgot service, or contact their Account Security team, or if you're the iPad's original owner, click here and submit an unlock request.

There isn't a way to recover the password from Apple's servers; that copy of it has been run through a one-way encryption algorithm.
