How do you change the Apple ID on your device? I am trying to use an older iPad and it has an old Apple ID that I no longer use. I want to remove the Apple ID and use my current Apple ID.

I started to reset an old ipad before giving away. I ignorantly decided to cancel process about 3/4 way through and do later. Then later unable to get ipad to restart beyond passcode screen!

I Press home button, It opens into passcode screen, I put in password, black screen comes up, then screen with apple comes up for about 34 sec. , then opens into passcode screen again. It keeps recycling that way but never completes the cycle or opens ipad.
