How to Trim and display the time when editing an MP3 with QuickTime Player?
Hi all -
I'm new to the audio world, so please forgive my ignorance. I have an audio recording that is approximately 2 hours long. It's an MP3, recorded by an external device. I got it saved to my Mac (yay, me), and I am trying to save a few specific parts. I've listened to the entire recording, and I noted the times of the parts I want to keep. The rest is rubbish.
I went with QuickTime player, as it seemed easier than Garage Band (i'm not looking to do anything to the recording aside from section of parts I want. I made a copy, but when I went to Trim, the time display disappeared. I paused the recording right before the part I wanted to keep, and I could see the red line; however, the moment I hit trim, and move the starting band, the redline (my starting point) disappears.
Is there a way to keep the time display active while using the Trim feature? I went to Edit > Time Display but none of the options were available. This feels like a very simple thing to show, but it is beyond my ability to figure out why I can't see the time when Trimming.
Thanks for whatever help or guidance you can provide.
PS I'm not married to using QuickTime, and if a different application is more appropriate, please feel free to suggest it.
