I wish to purchase an iMac 21.5in computer online. Does this come with the office software, ie. word, excel etc. or does this software need to be purchased separately? If so, how do I go about purchasing this?

While Apple does sell the iMac 21.5" (Buy 21.5-inch iMac - Apple), I STRONGLY recommend you purchase an iMac 24" M1 instead: Buy iMac - Apple! It will be a much better Mac!
Apple includes free iWork software that can use the Microsoft Office formats: iWork - Apple. It is sufficient for most use cases.
Microsoft Office is available as a separate purchase. Here are the Office options:
