Safari location services

I have location services turned off for Safari. However, it appears that Safari frequently tracks my location—based on the location icon at the top of the screen and the fact that Safari is the only app open. How do I prevent tracking from occurring at all times? I have double checked the settings several times for the app—I have selected the most rigorous option, “Never” track location. Thank you!

Hello mrd558,

Thanks for reaching out and posting your question in  Apple Support Communities. We’ll be happy to see what we can do to help out.

The article you posted your question from, Turn Location Services and GPS on or off on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch was a great place to look for answers.

Do you have any other that are allowed to use Location Services anytime? Do you see the Locations icon when not using Safari? What about a particular website, does this happen when going to certain websites?

Let us know a little more and we’ll be happy to help.

Cheers!
