Why does my iPhone 11 randomly switch over to SOS

Not knowingly.. I pick up my phone to make a call and see in the right hand corner SOS !!!! Then I turn it off for a few seconds and then turn it back on and it's all systems go,, until the next time!! I'd like to know what I'm doing wrong.. Thanks for your reply

Perhaps you have pressed the side button five times. Or perhaps you have pressed and hold the side button along with a volume button.
