I do not use WiFi because of security issues. How do I download and install my security updates???
You think cell data is somehow inherently more secure than WiFi?
To use your computer it will have to be connected to WiFi in order to update. You didn't mention what model iPhone you are using, if it is a 12 series and you have a 5G connection you can update directly using cell data.
Either your password was too easy, you set the security too low, or you had a router that was susceptible to hacking. No, it is not inherently more secure an the 11 series it does not have true 5G, if you are with AT&T it may show 5Ge which is a marketing gimmick.
Depending on your OS version you can use Finder (or iTunes) running on a Mac w/ a cable.
