i am on ios 12.4.1 and wont upgrade because i heard that there is an incompatibility with the dac chip the digital audio amplifier where the phone can get bricked by an update and require unsoldering of the chip to get it out of a boot loop
i was wondering if the phone is safe from the pegasus spyware does the spyware only effect ios 13 and 14 or maybe only 14?
Hello. Pegasus is known to be able to infect recent versions of iOS (excluding iOS 14.8 which patched the vulnerability). iOS 12.4.1 is undoubtedly vulnerable as well. If you want to patch this vulnerability, you will need to upgrade to iOS 14.8.

The update Apple released for the vulnerability was for phones capable of running iOS 13 and 14. It would not effect your phone on iOS 12.x.x. I'm not familiar with issue you have raised with iOS 12.5.4, by the vast majority of millions upon millions of people who have successfully updated their phones to iOS 12.5.4. In not updating your phone to the latest version it can run, you have left yourself vulnerable to other vulnerabilities. That of course is your choice.
