How can one disable “iPhone Storage Almost Full” notifications?

I have more than 50GB free on my 256GB iPhone 12 Pro Max. After shutting off most of my iCloud features, I am now pestered with a pop-up and settings notification that my iPhone storage is almost full(it’s not). This is actually an ad for iCloud that cannot be dismissed. I don’t want to use iCloud on this device, and I especially don’t want non-removable ads on a device that cost me $1200.

The previous thread on this issue went unanswered, and rude people suggested the user should just pay for iCloud to fix it….

If there is a proper solution, I’d like to know.

If there isn’t, suggesting I “pay to remove ads” isn’t going to cut it for me.

I have the same exact issue. Newest iOS update did it I believe. I have 30GB free and it constantly tells me I’m out of storage. Like others have said, it’s ridiculous that a 1200 dollar phone has a notification pressuring you to buy their overpriced cloud storage option.

‘The "iPhone storage almost full” message pertains to your iPhone, and doesn't have anything to do with iCloud.’

The notification is prompted by the amount of storage remaining on the device. In my case, that amount is in excess of 50GB. The notification advertises an iCloud storage plan EVEN IF YOU ALREADY HAVE A STORAGE PLAN. The notification does not simply offer instructions on how to use iCloud or to enable iCloud features. It is clear that the main purpose of the notification is to get you to sign up for an iCloud subscription…. And again…. It is not dismissible.

I appreciate your response, but please try to remember the full context of the issue if you are going to attempt to provide advice.

My gosh I don't understand the confusion with OP's question. OP indicated he/she has 50 GB storage left on the phone, so its a false notification. The notification is under "Settings", where there would also be a notification if there is an iOS software available that you have not installed, so it is somewhat problematic. I have the same exact issue. I won't get into the iCloud stuff, because that seemed to make everyone's brains leak out, but basically in my case my phone was almost full, I then deleted a ton of photos, and now I have at least 40 GB of free space left, yet the notification that "iPhone Storage Almost Full" remains. I have an iPhone 11 and using latest iOS release. Some useful guidance would be appreciated.

Than you for replying, but your suggestion does not solve my problem. I have paid iCloud storage and 256GB internal storage on my device. After turning off iCloud Photos, I started receiving this “iPhone storage almost full” notification. As I had already elected to keep all original photos on device before shutting off iCloud Photos, the available storage on my device did not change. This notification is erroneous and only serves as an advertisement. That would be fine with me, except for the fact that the notification can not be dismissed and is now a practically permanent fixture of my device.

Hey required240,

Thanks for the reply and clarification of the message you're receiving.

The "iPhone storage almost full” message pertains to your iPhone, and doesn't have anything to do with iCloud.

Take a look at the available iPhone storage by going to Settings > General > About > Available, and verify that there is available space.

If the available space is getting low, this article can help to see what each app is using: How to check the storage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

The storage message should be dismissible. If it's not, have you restarted your iPhone recently? If not, go ahead and do that, as a restart can resolve unexpected issues. Restart your iPhone

If you still have several GBs available, and the storage message still appears, and/or that message still can not be dismissed, we'd recommend contacting Apple Support. Get Support

Cheers!

Hello required240,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities! It looks like you are getting an iCloud storage message, and we'd like to help.

It's entirely up to you if you'd like to or not use iCloud services. 5GB of iCloud space is provided, however, you can disable iCloud, so that nothing is uploaded which would affect the storage space. Go to Settings > Tap your name > iCloud > Turn off every item under "Apps Using iCloud".

This article explains the difference between iPhone and iCloud storage. You'll get notifications when both are nearing being full. However, purchasing iCloud storage will not increase the storage amount which your iPhone came with.

What's the difference between device storage and iCloud storage?

Take care!

I would suggest at this point that you actually make a call to AppleCare and speak to someone on the phone to go over your issues. It is difficult to tell from your description as to whether you are running out of iPhone storage or iCloud storage. And warnings about being close to running out are not "ads", serious problems with your data can occur if you actually run out of storage which is what the message is designed to avoid.
