Software Updates do not install automatically or let me know updates are available. (iPhone Se 2020 and iPad 7th gen, + many other devices I have read about on forums)
With both of my IOS devices, Software Updates are not timely, they should be called manual updates instead of automatic. Important updates under settings>General>Software Updates never installed automatically, I had to always manually install them, sometimes weeks after they were released. Most people by now should realize how important keeping your device up to date is with how prevalent hacking has become. In this world it's incredibly dangerous for updates to not install or takes days and weeks to install.
I've found this is a very common problem with Apple users across all devices. I've tried all suggestions/tips to no avail. Yes, I tried both settings under settings>General>Software Update>Automatic Updates and updates never installed in a timely matter unless I manually ran an update. I tested leaving my phone powered on for days at a time and updates would not run automatically. I like to turn my devices off every night (yes, I've tried leaving the "install updates" option on and off under automatic updates at different times). This is such a glaring security flaw I'm surprised such a simple problem has never been fixed...especially since Apple is supposed to take security so seriously. I see users have complained about this for years and this simple problem still has not been fixed, so I’m starting to give up on Apple.
Is there a way to fix this?
How apple should fix this easily in a few minutes:
- When a device is powered on, automatically check for software updates, and prompt the user to update (and leave a software update notification on until updated).
- Check for software updates every 4/8 hours after powering on, and prompt the user to update (and leave a software update notification on until updated).
I would love to purchase the new iPhones coming out but will hold off until this problem is fixed.
