Very slow transfer speed from ipad pro to usb c flash drive

I use Sandisk usb-c flash drive formatted in exfat filesystem to backup my iPad pro 2020 but transferring files from iPad to the flash drive is very very slow. I don't want to format it in apfs file system because it won't be readable on windows pcs. Is there a solution for faster file transfer or Are there certain types of flash drives or external ssds that can make me transfer files faster?

Ipad Pro 2022 slow file transfer I am trying to find a way to coly my files from Onedrive to an external flash via my new Ipad Pro 12,7” wifi device. The only way I have found around it is in three stels. 1) Open the web version of Onedrive (i.e. Onedrive.live.com), 2) mark the fil or folder in question and push the download button. A zip file is the offered as the only option for download, 3) once the file or folder is downloaded to the iPad then transfer to the external flash drive. However the process is very slow, and files above 2GB will not transfer, or at best extremely slowly. Before trying to download I took a speedtest of my ac wifi, result approx. 220/295 Mbps. The external flash drive is a 128 GB Kingston USB-C, 3.2 gen 1. I would have expected the process to be much faster with the iPad specs, but apparantly I expect to much of the iPad IOS, compared to fx. my own >5 year old i3 HP laptop. I had hoped to be able to work only with the iPad, but now I am in doubt, as I would like to be able to take a copy of Onedrive to an external storage. Any thoughts or experiences are much appreciated, I speculate I am not the only one tumbling with the issue.
