We see that you came to Apple Support Communities from If you see the Restore screen on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Your iPhone isn’t able to communicate with your computer until it’s placed in recovery mode. Both the previous article and If you forgot the passcode on your iPhone, or your iPhone is disabled provides the steps to place your iPhone in recovery mode. Once you progress, in order to set up your iPhone to factory settings, you’ll want to select “Restore” and not “Update”.
Are you using an Apple branded cable? Is iTunes updated to the most current version? Have you tired a different port on your computer?
