Magsafe Battery Not Charging Phone

I have an apple magsafe battery pack attached to my iphone 12 pro with an apple magsafe case. Half of the time, the magsafe battery does not charge my phone at all. My phone will show the magsafe battery as connected, and the lightning indicator next to the battery indicator which is normal when it is charging. However, it never charges. The battery pack sits there at the same level and so does my iphone. It is as if it is not connected at all. I need to hard reset my phone to get it to sometimes charge.

Thanks for the response. I have had both the MagSafe battery back and my iPhone 12 Pro (not max) for about 1 month total. Ran into the same problem again this morning. Battery on my phone was 20% and had a fully charged MagSafe battery. It connected and just sat on my phone not charging whatsoever. A hard reset (volume up down right long press) worked to get it to finally start charging.

We are happy to help with the issue you are having with your MagSafe battery pack not charging your iPhone 12 Pro. We see you came from How to use your MagSafe Battery Pack. How long have you had the battery pack? Can you test the charger on a different iPhone to see if the same thing happens?


You should make sure you are running the latest version of software on your iPhone. Learn how to Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch here.

Thanks for your follow up. Since you mention that a hard reset sometimes helps, we need to find out if it is your iPhone or the battery pack causing the charging to stop. To isolate this further, you would need to test a second iPhone.
