Age restrictions on profile

I’m 17 and I’m the only one on my Apple ID. For some reason it doesn’t let me turn off the ‘family sharing’. My Apple ID is connected to my bank card and everything but still doesn’t let me turn the restrictions off. No one else has access to my iCloud/Apple ID so how am I supposed to get around this?

Can you please provide a link where Apple actually says that for Family Sharing in general? I see age restrictions about requiring being 18 but that's for Apple Pay Cash.

Apple only mentions "adult" which I otherwise only see as being delineated by being a non-child which is younger than 13 years. Obviously the restriction about having to have a credit card is going to raise the age bar a bit but I remember having a credit card when I was 16 and nowhere else on Apple's site or a general web search do I see mention of a specific age requirement to set up Family Sharing.

Your account is under age. 17 is under age in most countries around the world. So it has certain restrictions including turning ON Family Sharing. By default Under Age accounts are restricted as per general policy.

Once your account ages to 18 or above then no restrictions will be in place.

The message clearly explains this. If your account is incorrectly set to 17, then you can change the age for it by following the steps here: link-> Update the birth date associated with your Apple ID - Apple Support

Family Sharing can only be set up by an adult.

One adult in the family — the family organizer — can set up Family Sharing...

By definition 17 year olds are considered minors so are not adults, and a such cannot setup Family Sharing, and yes, it also applies to App Tracking.

Not sure what Apple Pay Cash has to do with anything being discussed however.

I am just wondering where that age is defined by Apple? I am honestly curious. Age of majority varies from country to country, and adult age also tends to vary even inside a country according to purpose (in the USA you can drive when you are 15 or 16, you can do a lot of things when you are 18, but you can't drink until you are 21). The same seems to apply to Apple. I see some things where you have to be 18 and others where they talk about "kids" vs. "children". The main ages I see are age 13 for a "child", and 18 for some things which involve banking and are likely as not externally imposed by the bank partnerships.

The one thing I do not see anywhere is where Apple says you have to be 18 to set up Family Sharing, so I am honestly curious where you see that so I know with confidence it is something I can tell users with similar questions. I would expect to see it here if it was firmly defined: Set up Family Sharing - Apple Support
