My IOS clock always turns red when I make or receive a phone call. I read it only turns red when you are recording something. Does this mean I’m being recorded? I have crazy family members whom I know have done this to others in the past, so now I’m paranoid that they have done it to me. Is there anyway to find the app or whatever they are using to record me if this is the case?

Actually, Bryan_K1 is wrong. A red background on the clock means your are on an active phone call. You can go back to the phone app by tapping on the clock. In general, a colored background on the clock shows that there is another app running (for example, the Maps app if you have switched away from the app), and you can return to that app by tapping on the clock.
When your phone is using the microphone there will be a red DOT near the right end of the status bar. Again, it does not mean that something is recording; it only means that the microphone is on.

The call time showing in red is an indication that your iPhone is either recording sound or your screen. There are various reasons you may see this, including if you're making calls in a third-party app, making video calls, etc...

If you believe that something is on your device that may be recording without your knowledge, you would want to check in Settings > General > iPhone Storage, and check the list of apps to look for anything unexpected and remove it.

Hi thanks for your response. I disabled some apps I didn’t recognise and now my clock is back to green on every phonecall! Conclusion: My family is crazy!
Hi thanks for your response. I don’t mean the red dot though, I mean the iOS clock itself is red. I read on the Apple support page that it’s supposed to be green during phonecalls and only turns red when you are recording audio or screen recording.
