- The Find My service is the only recovery feature Apple offers. It MUST be set up before the device is lost. If you did not do that it is too late to do it now and there is no other feature Apple offers that can help you find it.

In order to locate your phone you have to have set up 'Find My iPhone' on it before losing it - you cannot do it retroactively - and the phone has to be on and able to connect to a network. If any of these conditions is not true there is no way of locating it.

As to its contents, if you have nmade backups to iCloud you could restore the entire contents to another phone: or if your data was synced to iCloud it will still be there and can be accessed from another device.
