Using Disk Utility to erase my Mac

I cannot seem to erase the volume group of my laptop. How do I go about it?

No option to erase volume group. Only option is to erase free space. I'm trying to wipe my Macbook before sending to apple for trade in. Instructions says to use disk utility and click erase volume group. I only have an option to erase free space. Not sure what I'm doing wrong here.

Problem erasing Mac I have been told to erase my computer. The instructions says: "After the erase is done, select any other internal volumes in the sidebar, then click the delete volume (–) button in the toolbar to delete that volume." But the only volume left is macOS Base System. And I don't know how to go on with erasing the Mac.

resetting macbook - disk utility I accidentally clicked Erase instead of Erase Volume Group. What do I do now?
