Unknown Camera Usage

I get the constant notification that my camera is being used when im on apps that don’t require a camera. I can be on my gallery and get this notification, I’ll be in my settings and it will happen again, is this a malfunction or is this normal?

I’ll leave an example photo of the notification, I used instagram to get the notification for this, but it just says “camera, unknown” when it happens.

iPhone XR, 14

Hello, and welcome to Apple Support Communities anon145,

From your post we can see you have a concern over a notification regarding an unknown app using your camera.

We can completely understand! We'd be concerned too. What you'd want to do is go to Settings > Privacy > Camera, and look for the apps you've given permission to use your camera. It might be good to test out a few of these apps to seen when you get this notification. It will help narrow down which app is causing this issue.

Check this out: Camera & Privacy. It's has good information about letting you choose whether you'd also like to share the location of where the photo was taken when giving access your Camera.

We hope this helps!
