My strokes aren’t recognized anymore. Freestyle becomes breaststroke

What can I do to make my series 4 watch again be synchronized with my iPhone X? It used to know what stroke I swam, but now it calls my freestyle breast stroke

iPhone X, iOS 14

Hi, aterner,

Thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities. If we understand, your Apple Watch does not seem to be recording your swim workouts as expected. You've come to the right place for some help!

Based on what you've described, we recommend first making sure the iOS software on your companion iPhone is up-to-date: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support, then that the watchOS software is up-to-date: Update your Apple Watch - Apple Support.

Then, follow the steps in the Apple Support article Get the most accurate measurements using your Apple Watch - Apple Support if your workouts still are not recording properly.

Best!

I think the problem is solved- I won’t know for sure, until I swim again. It’s thundering now, so maybe tomorrow. My problem had to do with not resetting the app on the phone to wearing it on my left hand again. I switched wrists because my band irritated me, and changed the crown and the hand. Then I changed the crown back, but I never changed the hand. I’m pretty sure this will solve the problem.
