Remove device from screen mirroring list

I don't understand why this is so difficult, I've seen several posts with people asking the same question, but no actual answer for the correct situation.

My TV was replaced under warranty and no longer have the TV. How do I remove it from the available devices in the screen mirroring list so I don't see it anymore? Obviously the previous solutions of turn the device off/remove from wifi network and restart phone didn't work or I wouldn't be here. It's not in the Bluetooth paired devices. The other solution of doing it through the remote app doesn't have any of the options mentioned to see or delete any devices.

I feel like this should be a simple setting in the settings menu.

iPhone XS, iOS 14

Hey there meloyelo51,

Great question, and one we'd like to help answer as best we can. You mentioned that your Apple TV was replaced, so it makes sense that the replacement would show as a possible device to share your iPhone screen. This is expected behavior.

While there's not a setting to remove a device from your possible list of screen sharing devices, are we correct in saying if you completely turn off your Apple TV, that it no longer shows in the list on your iPhone?

If we've completely misunderstood what is happening, please provide more details. The more we have, the better equipped we'll be to assist.

Take care!

No that is not what I'm asking. I'm referring to a Samsung TV that was previously added to the "Screen Mirroring" / "AirPlay" function.

Not expecting much help here now, as I spent 3 hours on the chat and phone with support last night with 3 different agents, going up the chain, and they can't figure it out.

Once troubleshooting, they had no inside info and digging around on the same suggestions as the unsolved forum posts, going in the same loops of apps that don't apply like "Home" and "Remote". I mean they did spend time with me and try...don't get me wrong.

From senior tech level am being told that her peer says screen mirroring should only be showing available devices within range and can't delete manually. Well that TV left on a truck about a week ago.

Last person I was speaking with was Tara and was bringing up a few more issues / looking into a previous case about a battery case replacement, and was put on hold till the line disconnected and no one has called me back. I tried the suggestions, of forced restart, and the 14.8 upgrade also did not help. The support people are all trying to avoid the "resetting your phone MIGHT work", but that seems to be the next and all too common solution.

Hello meloyelo51,

Thanks for those extra details, as they do help clear up a few things.

As you've already been in touch with Apple Support, along with speaking with a Senior Advisor, we recommend the same steps they recommended to you.

If the issue remains afterwards, we recommend getting in touch with a Senior Advisor to continue from there. They'll best be able to continue with you towards resolving this issue.

Have a good one!
