i upgraded from iPhone 8 to 11pro and set up from backup but my messages having some missing images. Not all are effected but it is an error for many items not just one. Looking for a best way to correct this. Also this started in May so not keen on doing a full restore unless I really have to

If you had turned on Messages in iCloud & iCloud Photos in your earlier iPhone 8 then they are not backed up (Nether on iTunes nor on iCloud),
Simply turn on Messages in iCloud & iCloud Photos on your device and your content is available on all devices that use the same Apple ID

Thanks. Gave this a try but doesn’t seem to have helped. Any other ideas?
