virtual Keyboard

How to activate the virtual keyboard at login, with only the mouse connected.

If the real keyboard is not connected, the virtual keyboard is not activated.

I use both mac pro and mini mac with Big Sure and M1 processor,

Thanks.

See the second link that Tom posted. It explains how to turn on the accessibility keyboard in the login window as well.

The part that I was missing was in System Preferences->Users & Groups, after clicking Login Options, you need to click the "Accessibility Options..." button, and check the box to show the Accessibility keyboard at the login window.

I was going to suggest you turn on "Show input menu in login window" (in System Preferences->Users & Groups->Login Options). This lets one choose a keyboard layout at login, but alas it does not include an option to show the "Keyboard Viewer".

Maybe someone knows more about this, but I don't think there is a way to do it.

It would be a worthy addition - use feedback to request it: https://www.apple.com/feedback

I use Big Sure ... yes, with the mac on, if I log out, the virtual keyboard appears. But if I turn off and restart it doesn't show up

I've now tried with my Big Sur 11.4 test install, and it works fine on shut down/power on. I wonder if there is something on your system interfering with this. Or if you are running 11.5 and above, maybe it got broken.

I followed the instructions but the problem is not solved, when I turn on the mac the "virtual keyboard" does not appear.

It appears after login by entering the password only with the "real keyboard".

I also noticed that after logging in

in the bar at the top right I click on the login icon the virtual keyboard appears regularly, but I repeat, not at power on ...

thanks a lot Luis for interesting
