I have a macbook air purchased in june 2021. I need to connect to a promethean board in my classroom, what adapter do i need to use to connect to the hdmi?

USB-C to HDMI adapter. Apple's got them.

So I did that and for some reason only my wallpaper is coming up on the Promethean board screen

Config problem maybe. I suggest you talk to the board’s maker for setup instructions.
