I am trying to change a email on a ipad I just set up . It is for a student at the high school and I used his email when I shoudl have used mine
how do I change this

Were you creating an AppleID account during initial set-up - the email address being used as the identifier for the AppleID account? If so, you potentially have two options.
1) You can update the AppleID account - changing the primary email address as needed. Note that you must be able to receive and respond to email for the original and new email address.

2) The alternative approach is to start again - and create a new AppleID account afresh - with the correct email address from the outset. Be aware that the original AppleID account, identified by your own email address will continue to exist. If you choose this route, you must properly disassociate the new iPad from your AppleID account - effectively preparing the device for a new user.
