Apple talks a-lot about protecting privacy. MacBook pros are often used by professionals. Laptops by definition are designed for mobility. The comparison with a phone is a non-argument. A privacy screen that protects against unauthorized eyes in the work place, while traveling, while working in a remote location are important to both individuals and businesses. Can a privacy screen be used or not on M1 MBP 14" ? In past I've used 3M (non magnetic attachment) on multiple MBP or MB Air without issue to laptop/screen.

There are two reasons why phone owners add screen protectors:

One is that the screen gets touched, all day every day, and might get damaged from mishandling.

Your MacBook Pro is NOT touch-screen device. There is no reason to touch it constantly. It does not need protection from your touch.

the second is that the phone might get dropped on a rock and break.

Your MacBook Pro display does not open far enough to make contact with the ground.

DO NOT install a screen protector -- you are likely to cause irreparable damage to the anti-glare screen coating.

This is not advised.

Using a camera cover, palm rest, or keyboard cover on a Mac ...

Screen protectors or known to negatively impact the anti-glare coating on the screen and void the warranty if damaged.

This thread is about screen protectors not about privacy. You should start your own thread and ask about privacy.
