Why additional repair charges asked to pay for MacBook Pro?

My issue looks similar to https://discussions.apple.com/thread/250906881

Here is the sequence of events,

  1. My 13'' inch 2017 MacBook Pro display blacked out
  2. Went to Apple Valley Fair Genius Bar
  3. They said it's covered under warranty and waived off $578 + Tax below is the receipt

4.Got a second email from apple support yesterday saying an additional issue was detected and they are now asking to pay the same amount for the additional issue that is $578 + Tax (which looks confusing to me why charge the exact amount which was waived off before?)

Below is the second email from them ,

Sadly this is my personal mac and I have used it few times (since I have my company's mac with me) I thought the whole repair was covered. What is exactly going on here and what is the best way out of the situation.

They must have discovered water damage or some such—which would void the warranty or they simply got it wrong the first time.

your best bet is to call them and ask then directly.

Did call them. The support person said she deals with software issues and the repair shop deals with hardware issues and she just said they found an additional issue (which she is not clear about but it is related to the logic board and display) so they charged you. She failed to answer why exact 578 and am I being charged for the same issue which was under warranty. External water damage is not possible. Internal humidity damaging logic board can be the case I am not denying it. But have not caused any external damage from my side to the device.

Why additional repair charges asked to pay for MacBook Pro?
