The other way unsolicited apps "appear" is if you download software from an aggregator site— instead of directly from the developers website.
The way these aggregator sites make their money is tucking in other 3rd party software and or adware/malware into the installer pkg. The acronym PUPs " potential unwanted programs" is the jargon...There is zero accountability with sites like these and you put your self at risk.
The one that I can think of right off the top of my head would be for example: Softonic https://en.softonic.com/

No it didn’t ‘appear’ on your devices. And it certainly did not appear on your iPad because it’s for Macs only. It was downloaded and installed by you or someone using your devices.
Something to get rid of… if it was me
