cant add files to itunes

I am attempting to add songs to Itunes library on PC Windows 10. Itunes takes the command, but song is not added, no error given. Tried it with the folder option - screen blinks a few times, same result. I found a similar complaint in discussions which directed putting the songs into the "Automaticly Add to Itunes" folder. Did that, they didn't add, but gave what I assume is an error code - "2021-09-17 18.21.41". I assume that's a date, but have no clue what the other part is trying to tell me. The files to be added are physically good (MP3) - Windows Media and Groove both play them fine. Anybody have a direction for me? Thanks

No, as I said in the problem description, I tried the documented approach. Itunes apparently has a problem with the files I'm trying to add, but doesn't identify what's offending him. I obtained the same files from a different source and was able to add those with no problem. Suggestion: provide error codes to identify the problem to users, instead of just not adding the files. Thank you for your response, though.
