How to backup emails on Time Machine

I have a LaCie 4 TB external drive partitioned 50/50 and one half is used as Time Machine back ups and shows as APFS volume. When I enter time machine and go back in dates it does not show the emails from a back up(example) 01/10/2021 even though there was backup that day. It does show downloads, documents etc but not all applications installed show in the backup and no email from that date.

I would like to backup my whole computer on Time Machine and feel I have something set up incorrectly. I would like to see emails from past backups if that is possible. When I open Time Machine on email and go to a date I want to review I see the date and when I hit restore Time Machine shuts down back to the present date not allowing me to view the emails saved on the date wanted.

Any assistance on what to look for is appreciated. I use a 2020M1 MacAir.

You can no longer scroll back in time to get any email as before. This started with Catalina. No one knows why this has not been addressed by Apple. You can scroll back in time and restore entire mail folders. They are in your user/library/mail/V directory. If you want to have an easy backup you can try an app like MailbackupX which is what I use.

Thank you for the response. I went into Time Machine and scrolled to a date earlier this month and in a search put in user/library/mail/V directory and all I could find was plist. I tried it directly on the external drive and had the same issue. There was no Library under my name as user or shared users. I may be trying to find it wrong but I looked at every library folder and no V directory. I did find the site for Mailbackup X. The email I need is probably lost. I will keep looking.

I appreciate your patience...but I now need my Dunce cap on! How do I search to locate Users/home/library/mail. I tried under Finder, on my Macintosh disk which is listed on Finder and my external drive. I am completely lost as to where to enter the search. I used the search glass to type in the search for each item I mentioned with negative results.
