The iPad9 is the entry-level model - and is the only iPad in the current range that does not support Cellular 5G network connectivity. You can verify and directly compare iPad specifications here:

iPad - Compare Models - Apple

The cellular capabilities of WiFi+Cellular models are determined by the built-in cellular chipset. CDMA, LTE and 5G capabilities cannot be added by way of a software update; nether can cellular hardware be changed or retrofitted. Cellular capabilities - and radio bands that can be used - are determined by the chipset installed at the point-of-manufacture.

If your iPad does not support 5G when purchased, the only way to obtain 5G capability is to replace the iPad with a different model.

Lotus Pilot is correct.

Essentially, no way to add 5G as the designed capabilities, of this iPad line, is built into the iPad's internal hardware.

This is a budget conscious iPad model.

Pricing and overall design and internal hardware architecture, of these base model iPads, is reflective of that.

Sorry.
