Changing Video Opacity on iMovie for iPad

I’ve overlaid (cutaway) two videos in iMovie on my iPad, and I’d like for the top layer to be slightly transparent so the underlying layer is still visible while both clips play. Is it possible to change a video’s opacity using iMovie on the iPad?

For instance, when two pictures are next to each other over a black background, instead of just playing the photographs consecutively, it automatically adds in a fade to black in between each photo. How can this be turned off?

Try clicking the ? In iMovie, then Learn More in yellow, then it’ll pull up the user guide, then you can go to the Table of Contents.
