When Apple emails me and tells me someone signed into my Apple ID from a Mac computer, do they know the computer that did it ?

The only thing that usually shows is the name of the computer. They don't know which computer that is.

Go to System Preferences/Sharing. The name of your computer is listed there. That is the name you will see in the email. The name of the computer that signed into your Apple ID.
