I have a iMac 24in (M1, 2021) that came w/Touchid keyboard. The keyboard connects wirelessly to the iMac (it pairs/no known issues with batteries) but has slow response (measured in seconds) making it basically unusuable unless I connect it via lightning. Any known fixes/issues?

Please restart in Safe Mode and then restart normally and test it.
Surprisingly, this was the answer! I started in Safe Mode, then restarted and whala presto chango the keyboard works as expected now for no real reason at all :).
The answer was Safe Mode and then rebooting. Why did that work. Not really sure.
The real reason was you likely had a corrupt cache and the Safe Mode restart clears many of caches.
