Microsoft Silverlight for Mac

My employer has switched to an online payroll system which requires employees to download special software: Microsoft Silverlight so I can view pay stubs and scheduling. My laptop is a PC and apparently already had the software installed. I clicked on the link on the site, entered my user name and password and got in with no problem.

The problem is that Silverlight will not work on the Mac. I can download and install it, but when I try to use it to enter the company site all I get is a blank/white browser window. I've tried Firefox and got the same result. Any ideas?

I MAC, Mac OS X (10.6.4)

HI,

I have Silverlight version 4.0.50401.0 installed on v10.6.4 with Safari 5.0.1 and so far it hasn't caused any problems.

One thing to add to "rkaufmann87's" advice is to repair permissions after you install the plugin.

Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

I've installed a new version of "flip-4-mac" which is supposed to have silverlight with it. I also went to silverlight and downloaded it again from Microsoft. I restarted the browser (like the recommends). The site verified that the program is installed correctly, but the problem persists.

I'm starting to think its my work's site not being compatible with the Mac. Can you do me a favor and go to the following site: "http://www.deco-inc.com/" and click on "My DECO" on the top right. If a message appears saying "ehub loading" then a light blue window that asks you for a user ID and password, then its working properly. If you get a blank white screen after e-hub loads then nothing..... then its the site and not my Mac.

Thanks 🙂
