Restart with the Command and R keys held down and install it from there. If your computer's model or firmware is too old to use that option, connect its original thumbdrive or insert a Mac OS X install DVD.

Hi! Sorry to be a pain! I’ve done as you’ve said. I now have a screen that says
macOS High Sierra
To set up the installation of macOS High Sierra click Continue.
Ive done this but I have a window saying “The recovery server could not be contacted” I’ve connected my MacBook to my wifi and have full signal.
What can I do now?
Thanks
I have nothing to install it from though. It’s a MacBook Air with no disc drive either.
This installs it from Apple's servers.
