I recently upgraded to Snow Leopard. I have noticed that in Preview, I am no longer able to move a page from one pdf document to another by merely dragging a page from the sidebar of one document to the sidebar of another document as I used to be able to do and I can still do if I open the document in Acrobat. Anyone else with this issue?
Works here as long as you're seeing thumbnails of each doc's pages in the sidebars. First step is to move the app's plist file out of your /Library/Preferences/, quit and relaunch the app, and see if the behavior persists.
I can see the thumbnails and it is the thumbnails that I drag. I am able to move the page, but it won't let me save the modified document, but reverts back to the original version of the document.
After you move from doc A to doc B, closing doc B should generate a Do you want to save dialog. Select save and it should do it. Tested multiple ways and it works. Did moving the plist file not allow it? If that's the case, create a new admin user account, log into it, and see if the problem persists.
You need to drag pages on top of the first page to add them to the document. That will change the thumbnail to a bound page. Otherwise, you are just opening the various pages into the same window.
OK, I see that works now, but it doesn't seem to allow you to place the page where you want to in the document. For example, if document A has 5 pages in it and I want to place page 2 from document B into the 4th page position of document A and I drag the thumbnail of page 2 from document B to the top page of document A, it just puts that page into the 2nd position and then I have to rearrange it's position with in the document. That is very cumbersome. It didn't use to be that way. What are the supposed advantages of the "bundle" concept?
I cannot say what the advantage is, except that it allows pages to be arranged in a window without combining them into a single document. I do not like it, either.
You can drag the pages to their proper positions, and then you can select all of them and drag them onto the first page. That should work.
