Photo Management

I have more than 6000 photos. When I go to attach a photo, it takes a very long time to pull it up and attach it. Sometimes, I just move it to the desktop which makes it easier.

There must be a better way to store and access my photos than the one I am currently using.

Thanks so much for your suggestions and directions.

1 - My library is part of my Photos application
2 - I have iCloud but don't know if I have iCloud Livrary enabled.
Will check to see if I have Optimize Mac Storage enabled.
3 - Is it still easy to access your photos is you use iCloud and maximize storage?

1 - No. The Photos application is located in your Applications folder. The Photos Library can be located anywhere you want it to be. The default location is in the Pictures folder. Where is it located?

2 - Go to Photos' iCloud preference pane and see if you have iCloud Library and Optimize Mac Storage enabled.

3 - yes and no. If you have Optimize Mac Storage enabled and want to use a photo that has been optimized you'll have to wait until it downloads to your library before you can use it as in printing, projects or emails.
